Friday 5 March, 2010 Plans have been afoot for a massive cityscape of Paris, but have been in the fortunate position of having a couple of proper nice commissions pop their heads in at the last minute, so my giant roll of paper has been banished to the corner and has been looking mournfully at me from the corner for days.

Tuesday 23 February, 2010 ...City, obviously.
A Honda advert in this week's Observer magazine (and, oddly, my macaroni cheese) got me thinking about the underneaths. Until now, my efforts had been concentrated on what lies above, but thought it might be interesting to look at things from a different angle.
There might be a little something buried in the strata in the final version.

Wednesday 17 February, 2010 I was so impressed with the thought people put into their entries for the Holiday Matinee giveaway, that I decided that there should be a couple of runners up too. As well as Kim winning the print, I illustrated Kim, Greg and Camille's entries on a postcard and they are winging their way to them as we speak. Hope you like them, you three!
(Well, two of the entries are – if you see this, please get in touch with your addresss, Camille!)
It's also your last chance to buy the You Make My Heart Race print before the price goes back up tomorrow.

Wednesday 10 February, 2010 Creative Review is calling for illustrative redesigns of its logo, and the pull was so great to try drawing it out of buildings (as I'd experimented with in the past) I couldn't help myself.
Featured on the CR Feed here, so all comments left over there to say "My word, what a splendid logo, it should immediately be adopted" and similar sentiments are very much appreciated.

Tuesday 9 February, 2010 In the time-honoured tradition of the mixtape, I spent an afternoon collaborating with the delectable Hat&Beard to make a CD for a friend we had promised one to many moons ago. He did the music and I rustled up a cheeky little cover.

Monday 8 February, 2010 The most excellent Michael Nobbs (I demand that you visit his blog and main site often as it's proper ace) asked me to write a guest article for his site. This involved putting words on paper rather than scribbly lines, which was a bit of a shock to the system, but I enjoyed it immensely.
Five (offline!) ways to find inspiration

Tuesday 2 February, 2010 I've done a cheeky wee flyer for one of Sundown Multimedia's events, based in my old hometown in the Essex massive. If you can get down to Southend-on-Sea on the 28th February, be sure to pop in as it looks like it's going to be a cracking night.

Wednesday 27 January, 2010
I'm delighted to announce that the splendid Dave Brown of Holiday Matinee fame is holding a giveaway on his blog of my You Make My Heart Race print (currently on half price sale here if you can't bear to wait to see if you've won).
Visit his blog here, and leave a comment on the post telling him what makes your heart race, and we'll pick the winner next Wednesday – he'll announce it on his radio show. I'll see what else I can pop in the poster tube too when I send it out.
If you do fancy buying a print, there's still time to get it to you by Valentine's Day if you buy it now.
While you're over there at Holiday Matinee, have a look at his shop, because there's some lovely bits in there.
Thursday 21 January, 2010 After seeing this post on Boingboing, I was trying to find a set of instructions of how to make origami seed pots out of newspaper to post as a comment – they're really theraputic to make and seem to stay together better than the round ones. I made loads last spring, and am about to start thinking about making some more.
Sadly, the website with the original instructions seems to have died a death, so as a public service announcement I did what any illustrator worth her salt would do – I drew some. Here you go.
They're a big dodgy, so apologies in advance. Hopefully they make sense when you start making them...
Folding a broadsheet-sized bit of newspaper in half seems to work best but it all depends on what paper you use and how big you want the pots to be, so experiment away. You can change the shape by folding too – I made taller ones for tomato seeds last year as their roots are well excitable, innit.

Sending some Valentine's Day love in your direction – I'm having a better than half-price sale ($52 down to $25) on my You Make My Heart Race print until the 14th February. Bargaintastic indeed. If the object of your affections loves you, or at least loves retro trainers, they'll surely love this.
If you don't have a Paypal account or can't pay in dollars let me know and we can work something out.
Tuesday 5 January, 2010 I can honestly say (well, kind of) that any time a pen in my hand has touched paper recently it's been for important busy-actual-work-not-really-postable reasons. This clearly means there is much excitement afoot (hooray!), but does rather mean that you might all think I'd fallen off the face of the earth.
In light of this, and in the absence of anything drawn, I leave you with one of those photos that needs no tweaking at all because it looked that fantastic in real life, at London City airport DLR station.
Tuesday 8 December, 2009 I bring to you a rare diversion from the usual scribbling to share a few iPhone scribbles – I was eagerly anticipating the release of Vellum, an stripped-down iPhone app that replicates drawing on paper far more naturally than anything else I've tried. I'm pleased to report I've not been disappointed, it's a joy to use and the limitations are generally pleasing rather than a hindrance.
Here's a few examples of my scribbled efforts:

Thanks, also, to everyone who's bought my cityscape picture so far – the response has been really rather overwhelming and it's all thanks to you lot. You are all fabulous.
Monday 9 November, 2009 I was beside myself with excitement to find a box of Galt Toys Octons for a quid in a charity shop at the weekend. They now have pride of place as a sculpture* on the windowledge but I couldn't resist drawing them as well.
*Disclaimer: Sculpture liable to extensive redesign by myself and visitors
